  • Build endurance and perseverance training for athletes in any sport,
  • Teach camaraderie amongst the members and their peers,
  • Serve as a strong deterrent to gun violence in the neighborhood,
  • Develop character, responsibility and respect for their community.

By providing mentorship, tutoring and some basic needs support for our members, we are able to create a lasting impact that ripples out across the community. The organization’s ultimate goal is teaching Olympic style boxing that enables members to reach the level of being a contender for the Olympics and beyond. Stevenson and Moses Boxing for Life is the vision of Willie and Robyn Moses along with their grandson 2016 Olympic Silver Medalist in Boxing Shakur Stevenson. shikur1Shakur  Stevenson the Boxer had a very successful career at the Youth Level, winning the 2014 AIBA Youth World Championships and 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. In 2015 he won the Senior U.S. Olympic Trials, thus qualifying for the U.S. boxing team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. In Rio, Stevenson won a silver medal, losing to Robeisy Ramirez of Cuba in the gold medal match. He was the highest-medaling male for the USA.  Photo By Fernando Frazão/Agência Brasil.  It should also be noted that in the Olympics, Stevenson was dubbed “the next Mayweather” by Floyd Mayweather Jr. himself.  Stevenson turned professional on February 9, 2017 signing a promotional contract with Top Rank. 201706119 Coach Wali Moses with CC Minton 0148Willie “Wali” Moses –NJ  Boxing Hall of Fame Coach of the Year – started his pugilist career in martial arts at 8 years old with Mr. Allen Lee. At 12 year he started Martial Arts with Mr. Charles Wilson. At 14 he started Boxing with Mr. Harold Brown. Mr. Brown was sparring partner for the great Floyd Paterson., At 18 he began his life coaching career along with his lifetime friend Robert Griffith at the Newark Pal. He also coached little league baseball for five years, restarted his Boxing career at the First Developmental Center coaching a group of kids. Willie and Robert Griffin opened their own gym, Elite Boxing. After 6 years they expanded their program opening under the name Elite Heat along with Mr. Vito Mielnicki. Within 3 years of opening athletes won 15 National championships. In 2012 he began coaching Jr. World Team USA.  He coached 15 national championships, 12 medals internationally-5 Gold, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze. In 2013, he was voted National Golden Gloves Outstanding Coach. He also coached Shakur Stevenson in 2103 Jr. World Championship while he won 3 Gold medals internationally in route to winning AIBA Boxer of the Year award, which was the first time for any American.

Robin Moses Black doubleRobyn Ware-Moses – Robyn is a professional nurse who supports her husband in the boxing world. Her role is multi- faceted. She has assisted with providing transportation, preparing documents, and all that is necessary to push the dream forward.  Robyn Moses works as a nurse, working with the elderly. She has 14 years of experience in communicating with clients, family members, and other personnel, vendors, and visitors.  In 2003, she earned the Humanitarian Award in New Community Nursing School. When she is not working, she is busy being the CEO of the organization Stevenson and Moses Boxing For Life which is a passion of hers. Fundamental in fostering the success of this organization and is dedicating herself to being a driving force for the organization. Robyn Moses holds a Master’s Degree in Health Administration earned in 2016 from the University of Phoenix. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, and blogging about relationships on her website called Relationship Cakes and Ice Cream. She is planning to move Stevenson and Moses Boxing For Life forward in the coming year, offering Olympic Style training for all athletes, fitness for others, and offer basic boxing skills for the elderly as an exercise tool.

cc mintonCC Minton – Board President – Stevenson Moses Boxing for Life  founded by 2016 Olympic Silver Boxing Medalist/Professional Boxer Shakur Stevenson, former Olympic and NJ Hall of Fame Boxing Coach Wali Moses and Robyn Moses.  She provides strategic leadership by working with the Board and other management to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization’s fiscal function and performance.   CC is an author, media contributor, lifestyle empowerment expert and President at Stevenson Moses Boxing for Life. A President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award recipient, CC works with adults, children, and communities empowering them to embrace healthy living. Her various projects include working with the Office of First Lady Michelle Obama, Whole Foods Market, NY/NJ Superbowl organization, Apollo Theater, Olympic Day Committee and Harlem World Magazine.

Stephanie Hutton Junior League Montclair Newark INTERVIEW MODERATOR – Stephanie Hutton – Stephanie Hutton loves to stay busy volunteering in our local community. She has worked with the Covenant House of NJ, Studio Montclair, and currently serves as the President of the Junior League of Montclair-Newark. She is so proud to help represent tthis incredible women’s volunteer organization that has served the Essex County area for almost 100 years. Before starting her volunteer career, Stephanie graduated from Florida State University earning her CPA license and a Masters in Accounting. She spent several years working as an auditor at Deloitte in Jacksonville, Florida before she retired from public accounting upon the arrival of her first son. She moved from Jacksonville, Florida to New Jersey in 2007 and is continuously amazed with all of the wonderful, caring and giving people in our community. There’s no other place like it. Stephanie enjoys anything and everything sports related, including fantasy football and painfully watching her beloved Jacksonville Jaguars on Sundays. She currently resides in Glen Ridge, NJ with her husband Matthew and two sons, Andrew and Nate.

Nat Adderley Jr.  known for his work with Luther Vandross. Nat wrote (and arranged) Vandross’ first top 20 pop hit, “Stop to Love,” and other songs, including the Grammy Award-nominated “Give me the Reason.” More recently, Nat has produced tracks on the last seven Vandross studio albums. These include “The Closer I Get To You,” a duet with Beyonce Knowles which also appears on Beyonce’s album Dangerously in Love and won the Grammy Award for best R&B performance by a duo or group in 2004. Many other artists have had major successes with help from Nat Adderley Jr. Nat wrote “The Wave” for Kirk Whalum, arranged Natalie Cole’s 1987 hit recording of “When I Fall In Love,” produced “Just Another Lonely Night” for Johnny Gill, arranged most of Aretha Franklin’s Jump To It, produced Gloria Lynne’s No Detour Ahead, and wrote the string arrangement for Doc Powell’s Grammy Award-nominated version of “What’s Going On.” Recently, Nat produced tracks for Ruben Studdard of American Idol, arranged and played on the critically acclaimed album Telling Stories by Paulette McWilliams.

 

darryl clark and nat adderly jrDarryl Clark Bandleader started with classical guitar at 8 years old and took up the bass guitar when he was 14. Darryl’s introduction to jazz bass came in his teens from legendary bassist Earl May (played with Miles Davis, Lester Young, Gene Ammons, Sonny Stitt, and Mercer Ellington, Miles Davis) while a student at the Jazzmobile in NYC. He has performed with jazz artists Nat Adderley Jr, Tina Fabrique, Steve Marley, Marshall McDonald, and Kirk Tamura. Darryl’s latest project, DC Fusion an R&B/Jazz group, recently released their first CD “West Coast Dreamin”. He has played at a variety of venues such as Lincoln Center, Trumpets, The Bitter End, Cleopatra’s Needle, Flushing Town Hall, the Priory, The Borgata, the Hedley Club in San Jose as well as various festivals in the NYC metropolitan area. Darryl has been integral to the music ministries at Bethel AME, St Matthew AME youth prison ministry, currently is at Bethany Church in West Orange.
