SUMMARY:Jesus & Jazz at Mt. Zion AME: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Las Guaracheras — The Women of Salsa
DESCRIPTION:Hispanic Heritage Month at Mt. Zion AME Church arrives with powerful cultural energy this year as Jesus & Jazz welcomes Las Guaracheras\, the all‑women salsa ensemble from Cali\, Colombia — the world’s Salsa Capital. Presented by Gregory Burrus Productions\, this special celebration blends worship\, culture\, and community uplift in a way only Jesus & Jazz can deliver. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nA Celebration of Faith\, Culture & Heritage\n\n\n\nHispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) is a time to honor the histories\, traditions\, and artistic contributions of Latino communities across the United States. At Mt. Zion AME\, that celebration takes on a unique spiritual dimension — where music becomes ministry\, rhythm becomes connection\, and culture becomes a bridge that brings people together. \n\n\n\nLas Guaracheras embody that spirit. Their music is rooted in Colombian identity\, Afro‑Caribbean rhythm\, and the unmistakable Cali swing that has shaped salsa worldwide. As an all‑women ensemble\, they bring a fresh\, powerful voice to Latin music — one that aligns beautifully with Mt. Zion’s commitment to empowerment\, artistry\, and community. \n\n\n\nThe Women of Salsa Take the Jesus & Jazz Stage\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen Las Guaracheras step into the sanctuary\, they transform the space. Their percussion‑driven sound\, tight harmonies\, and joyful stage presence create an atmosphere where worship and celebration meet. This is salsa with purpose — music that honors heritage\, uplifts women\, and invites the entire congregation into a shared cultural experience. \n\n\n\nTheir performance is not just entertainment; it is a Hispanic Heritage Month offering\, a moment of unity that reflects the diversity and strength of our community. \n\n\nRegister on Eventbrite\n\n\nWhy This Event Matters\n\n\n\nJesus & Jazz has always been about blending sacred expression with world‑class artistry. Bringing Las Guaracheras to Mt. Zion AME continues that mission by: \n\n\n\n\nHighlighting women leading in Latin music\n\n\n\nHonoring Colombian and Afro‑Caribbean cultural traditions\n\n\n\nCreating a welcoming space for multicultural worship\n\n\n\nStrengthening community ties through shared celebration\n\n\n\nElevating Hispanic Heritage Month with authentic\, international artistry\n\n\n\n\nThis event is part of a larger October cultural footprint produced by Gregory Burrus Productions\, with Las Guaracheras performing across New Jersey — from Clements Place Jazz to the Mt. Zion AME Millburn Church and beyond. \n\n\n\nA Service of Rhythm\, Worship & Community\n\n\n\nOn October 11\, Mt. Zion AME becomes a place where faith meets rhythm\, where salsa meets praise\, and where Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated with joy\, movement\, and cultural pride. \n\n\n\nThis is Jesus & Jazz at its best — a worship‑arts experience that honors God\, honors culture\, and honors the people who make our community vibrant. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMt Zion AME Millburn Sacred Arts Leadership\n\n\n\nPhilip Bigham\, Rev. Eyesha Marable\, Gregory Burrus\n\n\n\nJesus & Jazz and Blues & Blessings Sundays are guided by a powerful artistic and spiritual leadership team that continues to shape Mt. Zion’s sacred‑arts identity across New Jersey. Under the worship‑centered vision of Rev. Eyesha Marable\, these programs blend praise\, community uplift\, and culturally rooted performance. Pianist and arranger Phil Bingham adds a deep musical foundation\, shaping the sound of Jesus & Jazz with his signature blend of gospel\, jazz\, and improvisational excellence.  Gregory Burrus\, producer and curator\, expands the musical reach of these series through his statewide festival work and artist development\, bringing top‑tier talent into Mt. Zion’s worship‑arts environment. \n\n\n\nTogether\, Rev. Marable\, Burrus\, and Bingham anchor these programs as a unified ministry of music\, culture\, and spiritual connection — elevating every artist who steps onto the Mt Zion AME Jesus & Jazz stages.
