Actress and singer who’s been in the reggae scene starting in Mexico since 2014 participating in important festivals and collaborating with several bands of “El Nuevo Reggae Mexicano”. \n\n\n\nInspired by the music of masters of Jamaican reggae (Bob Marley\, Gregory Isaacs\, Peter Tosh) and Latin reggae (Cultura Profética\, Nonpalidece\, Los Cafres) she’s finding a fusion between the old and new sounds of traditional and modern reggae and also adding her own Mexican folclore\, prehispanic instruments and different styles of sounds she’s been influenced by. \n\n\n\nNedelka leads this project on vocals collaborating with extraordinary musicians on bass\, guitar and keyboards/vibraphone and drums/percussion.

MAPSO Funk Fest returns for its second year on Saturday\, August 27\, from 1 pm to 7 pm at the Springfield Ave Gazebo and Maplecrest Park in Maplewood\, NJ\, at 1688 Springfield Avenue\, Maplewood.(Rain date is August 28.) \n\n\n\nFunk Fest is a free vibrant event where people of all backgrounds and ages are welcome to enjoy funk\, house & soul music\, local eateries\, kids’ activities\, and creative talent\, while connecting with family and friends\, both old and new. It will be a free-flowing event with picnic blankets and chairs encouraged. MAPSO Funk Fest welcomes Black\, minority\, women\, and LGBTQ+ owned vendors and talent for a truly inclusive event. \n\n\n\nThe music lineup is curated by Gregory Burrus Productions and features a mix of live bands and DJs. Talent includes DJ K3yflo\, DJ Jodi Tweeks\, Forget the Whale\, Cadence\, MPACK Live!\, and DJ Ali. \n\n\n\nMAPSO Funk Fest is an all-ages event. A kids zone will have a bounce house\, games\, and arts & crafts activities! Guests 21 and over are welcome to hang out in the beer garden serving local craft brews from Montclair Brewery. \n\n\n\nAttendees can pack their own food or dine out at one of the more than a dozen food vendors serving everything from lobster rolls and BBQ to ice cream and lemonade.  The full list of food vendors can be found at the MAPSO Funk Fest Website. \n\n\n\nMAPSO Funk Fest’s festive marketplace will feature over three dozen vendors from the local area. Wares for sale include jewelry\, home goods\, artwork\, greeting cards\, candles\, as well as original MAPSO Funk Fest merchandise. \n\n\n\nThe MAPSO Funk Fest is free to attend and is sponsored by: \n\n\n\nCollectively\, The Botanica Boutique\, The Apothecarium \, The Jewel School \, and Gregory Burrus Productions.

Soulful\, sexy and hypnotic\, the next wave of Brazil’s contribution to great music is poised to launch in the artistic hands of Abelita Mateus. \n\n\n\nLiving in the NYC area since 2012\, Abelita Mateus has taken a remarkable path.  She released her debut album Vivenda in 2017 with co-producer Romero Lubambo who also contributed as featured guitarist. Remarkably\, Vivenda reached the 24th position on the Jazz Week Charts. \n\n\n\nMateus is currently the pianist for the Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Cuban Experience\, directed by Dizzy Gillespie alumni John Lee. She has performed with such notables as Paquito D’Rivera\, John Lee\, The Dizzy Gillespie Big Band\, Antonio Hart\, Eric Alexander\, Larry Coryell\, Claudio Roditi\, Raul de Souza\, Hermeto Pascoal\, Dave Stryker\, Romero Lubambo\, and Portinho. Mateus plays at international venues such as the Blue Note New York\, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.\, The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles\, Yoshi’s Jazz Club in San Francisco\, Ronnie Scott’s in London\, and Bird’s Basement in Melbourne\, Australia. In December 2017\, Mateus was invited to perform alongside Helen Sung\, Marcia Ball and Joanne Brackeen for NPR’s A Jazz Piano Christmas at the Kennedy Center. \n\n\n\n“Abelita Mateus has so many of the qualities that are important for any successful musician. Her piano artistry is remarkable\, and she is a talented composer and vocalist. Abelita’s intelligence and heart are also expressed through her music. DESCRIPTION:Cranford Summer Sounds Don Braden Karl Latham Big Funk \n\n\n\n\n\nSaxophonist\, flutist\, composer and educator\, Don Braden’s jazz career spans 40 years. He has toured the world with Betty Carter\, Wynton Marsalis\, Tony Williams\, Freddie Hubbard\, Roy Haynes\, and others and performed on Saturday Night Live\, at Carnegie Hall\, Harvard University (where was an engineering undergrad)\, and countless jazz festivals and clubs. He has over 100 CDs as a sideman and 21 as a leader\, the most recent his critically acclaimed Earth Wind and Wonder. Don has written 150 pieces for ensembles from duos to full orchestras\, including one for Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands\, and over 100 songs for jazz combos. His compositions appear on dozens of CDs\, TV shows and indie films. In 2000\, he received a Doris Duke Foundation New Works grant and adjudicates for them and for SURDNA\, the Downbeat Student Music Awards\, and others. He teaches at Prins Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands and at Montclair State University. He ran NJPAC’s Jazz for Teens for 15 years and also led the Harvard University Monday Jazz Band. Don believes that jazz is a great music style to study because it reflects so many important aspects of life\, including creativity\, discipline\, teamwork\, leadership\, listening skills\, democracy\, supportiveness and improvisation. Don has been the music director of the Litchfield Jazz Camp since 1998.
