Generations of residents congregate over drinks to celebrate the creative talents in their community. Moore’s Lounge in Jersey City has become a place where the most diverse individuals come together. \n\n\n\nIt’s been some challenging times\, but Mrs. Ruth\, now 85 years strong\, has been a bedrock in a fast-changing world. A recent interview stated\, “In a challenging area where Moore’s is the only one left of 11 taverns that existed around it when they started out\, Moore’s has helped keep a few lights on.” \n\n\n\nSunday “MEET THE ARTIST” Series \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs Winard’s page states: “Every Sunday I bring together established\, world-renowned and extraordinary artists with young\, emerging talents\, in a “Jazz Clinic” type of setting\, performing for a local audience wishful to learn and exchange knowledge about the context in which Jazz music has emerged and is played today. \n\n\n\nFriday “FISH FRY” Jam Series\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTypical jam on Jun. 2\, 2014 led by Winard Harper. Sept 2015 – Drummer Winard Harper – Soon as you enter the lounge\, you know there’s a serious drummer playing. Winard Harper is a worldwide renowned Jazz Musician\, educator and band leader. Winard stated in a brief conversation\, he wants to bring Jazz Jams of high quality back to Jersey City in places like Moore’s Lounge. He’s on a mission so it will happen. \n\n\n\nToday\, Moore’s Lounge functions as a jazz temple for aspiring young jazz musicians and the many professionals that come to play and support. After being a fixture in Jersey City for over 50 years\, the future of Moore’s is up in the air. “Moore’s Jazz” looks at what is at stake for a community if it loses one of its cultural pillars to gentrification and to a pandemic.” \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFounder of Jammin in the Loft Series Produced by Gregory Burrus Productions \n\n\n\nExperience your favorite bands up close and personal in SOPAC’s new Jammin’ in the Loft series.  Curated by Gregory Burrus Productions\, this series brings talented local bands that are taking the local music scene by force to the next level with an intimate and energetic experience in The Loft at SOPAC! Come experience the thrill of seeing these talented local musicians perform up close and personal\, surrounded by an enthusiastic crowd of friends\, fans\, and fellow musicians. \n\n\n\nI am very excited to bring the this brand new series to the beautiful SOPAC Loft\, I will be heading up this new series that will bring local and very talent bands to the SOPAC loft from the parks and streets of the local communities. \n\n\n\nThese bands are serious about performing\, are making huge waves on the local scene and continually selling out local venues. John also began working in the bands of Jon Faddis\, Aretha Franklin\, Roy Hargrove\, Jimmy Heath\, Gregory Hines\, James Moody\, Claudio Roditi and Sonny Rollins. At present\, John is the executive and musical director of the Dizzy Gillespie All‐Stars\, the Dizzy Gillespie All‐Star Big Band and the Dizzy Gillespie Afro‐Latin Experience. \n\n\n\nJohn is also a Grammy winning record producer and a seasoned recording engineer. A product of the esteemed Jazz program at William Paterson University\, with a Masters in Jazz Studies and Performance from New Jersey City University\, Hendrix also shares his knowledge and passion for the music by serving as a faculty member at the The New School in New York and Jazz House Kids\, in Montclair\, New Jersey. \n\n\n\n\n\nGerry Brown – Drums \n\n\n\nThis musical journey started in Philadelphia with fellow schoolmate Stanley Clarke who introduces him on stage as “the first musician I ever played with\, master drummer\, Gerry Brown.” Together they crafted the revolutionary “School Days” recording that perennially inspires drummers and bassists worldwide. Since those early days\, Gerry’s reputation has only expanded as the “groove master” while playing with legendary artists including Diana Ross\, Stevie Wonder\, Lionel Ritchie\, Chick Corea\, George Benson\, Larry Coryell\, and many others. \n\n\n\nGerry has been drumming for Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross over the years\, and shares his insights on how to have longevity in the music industry\, as well as showmanship while grooving. \n\n\n\n\n\nAlex Collins – Keys \n\n\n\nI am a composer/arranger and pianist.
