Founded by percussionist Ahmad DiBose Dawson of Katalyst\, the ensemble blends free jazz\, fusion\, soulful grooves\, and live instrumental experimentation into immersive performances rooted in the Black creative tradition of LA. \n\n\n\nBeyond the stage\, Black Art Distrikt has helped drive several of Southern California’s vibrant live music platforms\, including Jazzin’ Compton\, Atwater Jazz Club\, Everything Raw\, and Sound Suite LA’s Live Music Soirée. \n\n\n\nFor this special engagement\, the group would feature Zacchae’us Paul\, the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist\, vocalist\, and producer signed to Candid Records. Blending Southern hip-hop\, gospel\, Caribbean rhythms\, and jazz improvisation\, Zacchae’us is one of the most exciting emerging voices in contemporary Black music. His debut album JAZZ MONEY\, executive produced by Terri Lyne Carrington\, explores themes of Black spirituality\, history\, and liberation through a bold\, genre-defying lens. \n\n\n\nTogether\, Black Art Distrikt and Zacchae’us Paul would bring a powerful statement in progressive jazz with a sound for today—an adventurous\, soulful\, and deeply engaging performance perfectly suited for Clement’s Place. \n\n\n\nABOUT KATALYST\n\n\n\nEvery decade or so a new band comes to the forefront and changes the course of music\, this decade is no exception and sees the rise of one of the most talented\, diverse collectives of musicians\, writers\, composers and producers otherwise known as Katalyst. The brainchild of world-renowned drummer/composer/ producer Greg Paul\, this nine- piece ensemble hailing from Inglewood\, CA showcases an eclectic mix of experimental contemporary jazz. \n\n\n\nThe collective comprises of pianist Brandon Cordoba\, saxophonist David Otis\, Grammy- award winning trombonist Jonah Levine\, keyboard/pianist Brian Hargrove\, percussionist Ahmad Dubose\, uptight bassist Corbin Jones\, bass guitarist Marlon Spears and Katalyst founder and drummer Greg Paul. \n\n\n\nIn 2020 during the height of the pandemic\, Katalyst released their critically acclaimed debut album entitled “Nine Lives” a free-spirited instrumental jazz album that truly encapsulates the pulse of Los Angeles. Conceived during impromptu Sunday Jam Sessions at their home base in Inglewood\, the title is personal as it documents the lives and fusion of these nine renaissance men\, equally yoked through 10 tracks that transport you on musical journey unlike any other. \n\n\n\nIn 2022\, they released their critically acclaimed compilation album with the Jazz Is Dead collective\, in which they toured throughout the US in the Summer of 2022. They have performed at Newport Jazz Festival in Rhode Island and Winter Jazz Fest twice in New York City. \n\n\n\nKatalyst has lent spread their sound across various industries – whether composing original music for films\, performing live on television series\, or providing the sounds for branded events\, their arrangements\, music\, and musicianship crosses over. \n\n\n\nAhmad DuBose-Dawson is a professional percussionist \, producer\, & recording artist from the Central Coast of California. His music style is a kaleidoscopic expression of Traditional African\, Afro Cuban\, World Music\, Hip Hop and Jazz all. He currently resides in Los Angeles where he is heavily involved in the recording as we as the live performance scene playing for multiple talents platform around the city and for multiple LA Based Bands including The Katalyst Collective. His versatility\, charisma\, and passionate approach to all musical scenarios led him to master a myriad of sound and rhythms that make him a reference among artists\, composers and producers in various genres of music. \n\n\n\n*********************************************************************

It’s jazz meeting gospel. It’s Afrobeat meeting soul. It’s culture meeting calling.\n\n\n\nBlues & Blessings welcomes two powerful young voices from the Matsiko World Orphan Choir — Faith Tutu Collins and Mallay Blessing Mulbah — brought to Millburn by international pianist Amina Figarova. \n\n\n\nTheir music carries hope\, resilience\, and global connection\, reflecting the spirit of Blues & Blessings and Mt. Zion’s commitment to uplifting both our local community and the world beyond \n\n\n\nMatsiko World Orphan Choir — Blues & Blessings \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMatsiko World Orphan Choir brings a powerful spirit of hope\, joy\, and global connection that aligns beautifully with the heart of Blues & Blessings. Formed through Matsiko Children International\, the choir features children from some of the world’s most vulnerable communities\, sharing their stories through vibrant harmonies\, cultural songs\, and uplifting movement. \n\n\n\nTheir performances weave together faith\, resilience\, and testimony — echoing the same themes of healing\, artistry\, and community uplift that define Blues & Blessings at Mt. Zion AME Church. Each song is a reminder that every child carries a voice worth hearing and a future worth investing in. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Amina Figarova Sextet with the World Orphan Choir – At Newark’s Clements Place Jazz – \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe choir has toured internationally\, inspiring audiences in churches\, schools\, and major venues across the United States.
