Dorthaan Kirk has been active as a curator and producer of jazz events primarily in and around Newark, New Jersey, and is an avid supporter of musicians and jazz education for children. Currently resides in East Orange and as NJPAC President and CEO John Schreiber proclaimed ” Dorthaan is the first lady of Jazz”.

She has worked in the radio industry since 1979, when she helped launch WBGO Jazz and was instrumental in helping build out one of the most successful Jazz stations in the country.

Dorthaan has also been bestowed the highest Jazz honor as an NEA Jazz Master. She is extremely synonymous with Jazz and we are excited to have her join us at the Pleasant Valley Productions Annual West Orange Jazz Festival.

We are thrilled to have Wayne Winborne , the Executive Director of the Rutgers institute of Jazz Studies, home to the country’s most extensive jazz archive and library.

OSPAC Live Music Curator Gregory Burrus stated that Having Wayne come on board as a Host / MC for the West Orange OSPAC Jazz Festival is truly something special for us in this returning year”.

Wayne Winborne holds degrees from both Stanford University and New York University, has worked with artists and musicians, co-produced jazz recordings, taught Jazz History and Appreciation as an undergraduate at Stanford, serves on the Board of the Brooklyn Philharmonic, served at the Vice President level at Prudential Financial, along with other positions in business programs and policy research. He has numerous publications and conference presentations while serving on the boards of several local and national non-profit organizations.
