Experience Jesus and Jazz with Glenn Merritt Quartet at Mt Zion AME This Sunday

Glenn Merritt is a talented pianist and a member of the Meant To Be jazz band. Originally from New York City, he has been playing music for many years and is known for his expressive and skillful performances. The band itself has been together for over 25 years, developing a vibrant chemistry that shines through in their sound. They perform a mix of traditional and contemporary jazz, bringing their music to clubs, festivals, weddings, and various events. Merritt’s contributions help shape the band’s dynamic and engaging performances.

Mr. Kropp earned his Bachelor’s degree in Classical Music performance with a minor in Theory and Jazz Studies from William Paterson’s outstanding Department of Music, renowned for preparing students for careers in music while working directly with faculty who are also in-demand performers. His studies emphasized small group performances where he strives to combine classical technique with improvisational elements to create a distinctive artistic perspective through both technical mastery and creative sensitivity. Following musical studies, his pursuit of a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Fordham University in 2004 reflects an intellectual curiosity that extends beyond music. Since completing graduate studies, Mr. Kropp has kept up with semi-active performances. over the years in classical chamber orchestras at church venues in Manhattan. Mr. Kropp currently serves as an advisor to Computer Science programs at both Fordham University in NYC and the County College of Morris in New Jersey.

Alan Hayes is the bassist for the jazz band Meant To Be. Born and raised in Northwest New Jersey, he has a deep passion for both the electric and upright bass. His dedication to the instrument is evident in his performances, where he brings a rich, resonant sound that complements the band’s dynamic style. Hayes has honed his craft through years of study and experience, making him an integral part of the band’s rhythm section1.

Pete Omelio is the drummer for the jazz band Meant To Be. Originally from Plainfield, New Jersey, he is known for his expert drumming skills and ability to keep the band tightly synchronized as they shift between different musical styles and tempos. Omelio studied under Marko Marcinko, a renowned drummer from the Dave Liebman Group, which helped him refine his technique and versatility. His dynamic playing adds energy and depth to the band’s performances, making him an essential part of their sound.
