Join us on the 4th Sunday of every month for an inspiring Jesus and Jazz Session hosted by Pastor Eyesha Marable. This session will be led by the with the Roberta Piket Trio & a Special Guest Lynette Sheard

Roberta Piket – Piano Trio

Roberta Piket – Pianist, The daughter of a European composer and a Great American Songbook singer, native New Yorker Roberta Piket is a pianist and organist who loves to swing while exploring the more adventurous harmonic possibilities of jazz and improvised music. Roberta’s father was the Austrian composer Frederick Piket, whose works were performed by the New York Philharmonic under famed conductor Dimitri Mitropoulos. In the 2018 Downbeat Readers’ Poll, Roberta was voted 8th in the Jazz Artist category (just behind such luminaries as Pat Metheny and Tony Bennett), 7th in the Piano category (following the legendary Keith Jarrett) and 5th in the Organ category! Roberta won the 2018 Downbeat Critics Poll Rising Star Award for Organ. Roberta also placed 16th in the Rising Star category for piano.

Camille Gainer – Drums

Camille Gainer a native New Yorker, has established herself with a rich career poised with artistic ability and versatility. She began playing drums and other instruments such as guitar, violin and piano at the age of 11. She then went on to study with master drummer Michael Carvin. Her diligence and perseverance earned her a full scholarship at Brooklyn’s Long Island University. Where she got to study with other greats such as Keith Copeland. Camille has gone on to work with such luminous artist as Roy Ayers, lonnie Liston Smith, Roberta Flack, Jean Carn, Noel Pointer,Steve Coleman, Greg Osby, Chuck Mangione, Marc Cary, Christian McBride, Monifa, Heavy D, Angela Bofill, Weldon Irvine, Joan Jett, Onaje Allen Gumbs, leni Stern and kelis, J.T. Taylor,Les Nubians and Cyndi Lauper, Alicia Keys and Wayne Brady. Camille has appeared on BET, BET on Jazz, and the BET Jazz Awards, Yo MTV Raps NY Lottery commercial, Black Girls Rock “An American in Hollywood”

Caylen Bryant – Bass

Caylen Bryant, who also goes by the name “The Bass Chica”, describes her sound as a quilt made from many different squares. As a bassist, cellist, and vocalist, she draws inspiration from many places. Caylen began playing the bass at Oberlin, where she earned her degree in Jazz Bass Performance. She is the current bassist for Blue Note Record Artist, Kandace Springs, and toured with her in February of 2020. The tour featured an all female band, and served to promote Springs’ upcoming album “The Women Who Raised Me”. In her most recent studio recording, Bryant was the bassist for the 2020 Grammy award-winning album “All the Ladies” by Joanie Leeds, an album focused on female empowerment, written, produced, recorded and performed entirely by women.

Eyesha K. Marable is trained dancer, ordained Itinerate Elder, Pastor, Mt. Zion AME Church, Millburn, NJ and Coordinator of Dance for the 1st Episcopal District.

Eyesha K. Marable is trained dancer, ordained Itinerate Elder, Pastor, Mt. Zion AME Church, Millburn, NJ and Coordinator of Dance for the 1st Episcopal District, under the leadership of Bishop Gregory Ingram. Rev. Eye earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Spanish, a Master of Science Degree in Non-Profit Management, a Post-Graduate Certification in Organizational Development and a Master of Divinity. Through her 14 years of service at the Greater Allen Cathedral of New York under the leadership of Rev. Drs. Floyd H. and Elaine M. Flake as associate minister, asst. dance director for Allen Liturgical Dance Ministry and co-chair for the bi-annual worship conference, Rev. Eyesha founded the National Liturgical Dance Network (NLDN). This dance preacher gathers, trains, supports and unites with churches and worshippers, worldwide. She is the Director of Community Engagement for NJPAC and is blessed to worship in dance with her husband, Edward B. Marable, Jr, son, Judah and Honor.​​

Lynette Sheard, Dir The Mental Health Association of NJ

Lynette Sheard is the Director of the Mental Health Association in New Jersey’s New Jersey Mental Health Players, a highly successful, interactive community education program, winner of the 2021 national Richard Van Horn Innovation in Programming Award from Mental Health America.

Ms. Sheard has worked at the Mental Health Association for over 18 years as a staff development trainer, senior employment specialist, and a Community Education Coordinator. Combining art and advocacy, she channels her enthusiasm to the programs mission of increasing education and awareness, decreasing stigma and breaking the silence around mental illness and emotional wellness.

Ms. Sheard is a versatile vocalist, actor, activist, producer, director, and vocal coach. The Star-Ledger proclaimed, “Her voice reaches deep into one’s soul and finds a soft spot.” She performs Jazz, R&B, Gospel, Soul, and Pop music.
