Lynette Sheard

She is a versatile vocalist, actor, producer, director, and vocal coach. Her live performances have been acknowledged in numerous publications including, The NY Times, Broadway World, and The Star-Ledger, which proclaimed that โHer voice reaches deep into oneโs soul and finds a soft spotโ She performs Jazz, Blues, R&B, Gospel, Soul, and Pop music. She has performed for sold-out audiences around the tri-state including Deer Head Inn, SOPAC, and NJPAC. Her most recent performance at Birdland Jazz received a standing ovation. Theater credits include principal roles in Dream Girls, Smokey Joeโs Cafรฉ, Ragtime, Swing, Aida, For Colored Girls, A Raisin in the Sun, and Avenue Q in which Broadway World declared that โshe is fabulous with a voice that shakes the raftersโ In 2017 she was inducted into the โEncyclopedia of Newark Jazz. Fun Fact, she was the undefeated West Orange Idol for 15 years.
Glenn Merritt Trio
Experience the dynamic sound of Lynette Sheard and the Glenn Merritt Trio, led by talented pianist Glenn Merritt from New York City. With lush chord voicings and impressive improvisational skills, Merritt’s refined style shines through. Influenced by the late Morris Nanton, his musical journey has been shaped by his mentor.
As part of the longstanding jazz group “Meant to Be,” the trio has been captivating audiences for over 15 years. Their energetic performances showcase seamless musical communication and spontaneous improvisations. Alongside Glenn Merritt on piano are Alan Hayes on bass, Pete Omelio on drums, and John Higgins on trumpet.
From jazz festivals to local events, the trio brings their vibrant sound to listeners who appreciate swinging jazz tunes. Don’t miss out on experiencing their combined infectious enthusiasm and musical artistry live!
