Bass- Adrian Moring

Adrian Moring – Bassist, Composer, Educator

Adrian Moring is a deeply rooted figure in the New York jazz scene, carrying forward a legacy of excellence as the son of veteran bassist Bill Moring. Immersed in music from an early age, Adrian explored piano and saxophone before finding his true voice on the bass at age eleven. His rapid development was nurtured by his father and a constellation of jazz greats, including Ron Carter, Rufus Reid, Larry Grenadier, and Harold Mabern.

A graduate of William Paterson University with a Bachelor’s in Jazz Bass, Adrian later earned his Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. His performance résumé reads like a jazz hall of fame—he’s played alongside Mulgrew Miller, Phil Woods, Steve Nelson, Antonio Hart, and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, gracing stages from Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola to the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Adrian’s playing is marked by lyrical depth, rhythmic clarity, and a collaborative spirit that elevates every ensemble he joins. Whether anchoring a trio or driving a big band, he brings both tradition and innovation to the low end.
