Come on out and join us in the streets with one our longest running, veteran big band, the Swing Town Big Band of Maplewood Community Music all under the direction of the professional trombonist and music director Ben Williams. They will be back with their 20 Piece Big Band and their Big Band-style jazz ensemble featuring Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones, Rhythm Section, and Vocalists.

Last time out we had big fun

And oh what a swinging night of music as they will be playing classics, standards and more. This will take us back and bring us forward with some of the sweetest jazzy tunes. Designed to bring the community together and have you dancing in your seats and on the dance floor.

And yes we are looking for swing dancers. Swing dancing, a form of ballroom dance, swing dance encompasses several different dance styles, each adding distinct flavor, including the Charleston, Lindy Hop, Collegiate Shag, Balboa, and others. Swing dance is also known as the Jitterbug. thats right you can do it or learn it but we need you. Wanna teach it call me. Wanna dance it just show up. and lets have some fun. Family friendly and for all ages so Mark your calendar for this exciting performance.

Swing Town is Maplewood’s NJ own 20-piece big band. Under the direction of Ben Williams, the group’s mission is to bring classic swing charts and modern jazz masterpieces to the residents of Maplewood and surrounding towns. The group rehearses twice a month at DeHart Community Center .
