Kelly Green Trio

Kelly Green and Alex Tremblay met in 2015 while playing in various bands and having many mutual friends in New York City. They began playing together often, hiring each other whenever possible, and soon began running two weekly jam sessions together. Evan Hyde moved to the city at the end of 2016 and began frequenting their jam sessions. He and Alex Tremblay were both selected for the Betty Carter “Jazz Ahead” program in 2015 and already knew each other very well as friends and musicians. Kelly and Evan had also met previously at William Paterson University where they both attended during different years. Once they began playing as a trio they realized there is a very special connection began playing as many performances together as possible. Through playing together often they are creating a specific sound, language and vibe; they enjoy playing arrangements of jazz standards and original music.

This trio is special because they have spent time cultivating a sound as a unit and have built the repertoire and arrangements together. They have created a specific language within the group and love sharing their passion with diverse audiences. There is room for the music to change and grow as the ensemble continues to build its repertoire and audience; each performance is unique, highly interactive, and improvised.
