Get ready for a night of world class jazz on Friday Feb 18th at 8 PM where we can reconnect with old friends, great food, good drinks and create even more good times for Black History Month and enjoy a top notch jazz performance with our buddy John Lee and his fabulous Friends.
For this serious night of jazz, John Lee will feature a few jazz heavyweights – Steve Carrington, Gerry Brown and Alex Collins. This special Black History Month Jazzy Nights’ celebration is aimed at Keeping Jazz Alive and Swinging Hard in the neighborhood so we need you to come on out and join us in the newly renovated South Valley BBQ and Bar’s Blue Room.
Come be a part of a really great unique, celebratory night of jazz.
Bassist John Lee

Bassist John Lee – a Grammy winner recording engineer, producer has performed as bassist with legendary Dizzy Gillespie for 10 years and with other luminaries such as Aretha Franklin, Paquito D’Rivera, Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner, James Moody, Jimmy Heath, Joe Henderson, Larry Coryell, Gregory Hines, Claudio Roditi, Arturo Sandoval amongst many others.
Drummer Gerry Brown

Drummer Gerry Brown – was Stevie Wonder’s drummer for 14 years, helped create the legendary world famous jazz tune “School Days” with his friend Stanley Clark, is an ex-member of Chick Corea’s iconic world renown tune “Return To Forever”, performed with Kool and the Gang and is currently touring with Diana Ross.
Saxophonist Steve Carrington

Saxophonist Steve Carrington performed with the late Elvin Jones, Joey DeFrancesco, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Wynton Marsalis, and Chick Corea, has opened for Abbey Lincoln, Lionel Hampton, Stanley Turrentine and many others. You may remember he just performed at the outstanding John Lee Afternoon Jazz Event in South Orange at the 100 Blanchard Road Mansion this past summer in South Orange, NJ.
Pianist Alex Collins

Pianist Alex Collins – a New York City-based pianist, composer, arranger and vibraphonist made his debut at the Tanglewood Jazz Festival with the Brandon Wright Quartet, has performed with Ronnie Burrage, Micelle Coltrane, Big Funk, Gerry Gibbs, Karl Latham, John Lee, Lonnie Plaxico, Lenny White, and the Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars amongst many others.
