Ty Stephens and SoulJaazz

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Ty Stephens is an award-winning singer-songwriter, entertainer and recording artist. He is also co-writer and original cast of From My Hometown, co-writer-producer, choreographer and star of the long-running Shades Of Harlem revue show and co-writer-production, choreographer and currently starring in the new off-Broadway hit On Kentucky Avenue. He has appeared on Broadway in the original productions of Sophisticated Ladies and Marilyn, An American Fable. He has recorded with industry legends Harry Belafonte, Peggy Lee, dance music icon Dan Hartmann, disco pioneer Nile Rogers, master drummer Baba Olatunji, renowned trumpeter Chuck Mangione, singer Gwen McCrae, Def Jam premier artist Alyson Williams, among others.


The “Musichameleon” Ty Stephens and his SoulJazz bandmates, shift gears to their cooler side! Focusing on songs that resonate in the form of retooled, re-grooved Standard favorites—SoulJaazz style, along with some brand new Standard sTYle originals! Pianist Born on 16.07.1951 in St. Albans. He has worked with luminous artists as: Noel Pointer, Norman Connors, Jon Lucien, Harry Belafonte, Letta Mbulu, Dianne Reeves and more.


ROBERT “R.T.” TAYLOR guitars

Worked with Beyonce on Flaws N All, first time, and second time we did Love On Top, happy to say she won a Grammy. Both Songs PRODUCED by Shea Taylor


TONY LEWIS – drums

Drummer/songwriter from the Bronx, New York, and has been playing now for fifty years. Play with artists who perform different styles, such as jazz (Dizzy Gillespie), rock (Sting) and roll (Little Richard), soul (Sam Moore), and hip-hop (Rakim, MC Lyte) in addition to Sting, Cyndi Lauper, Rakim, Sam & Dave, Michael Hill’s Blues Mob, and Craig Harris. 


GENE TORRES – bass

Gene Torres was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and picked up the bass at 15 years old and has not put it down since. Gene has had the pleasure of playing and or recording with a gamut of music styles, including Ben E. King, Al Hibbler, Rahn Burton, Public Enemy, Yousef Lateef, Chico O’Farrel’s Afro-‐Cuban Big Band, Ernie Marcelin of Taboo Combo, La Bamba and the Hubcaps, Southside Johnny, Ted Curson, The Weather Girls, The Chiffons at The Apollo Theatre, Chambers Brothers, Jonathan Butler, Hannes DeKassian Trio, Moon Pool, Tony Cedras (Keyboardist with Paul Simon), Jennifer Holiday, Noo Voodoo, Mark Pender (of the Conan O’Brian show, opening up for the BT Express). The Big Apple Circus, David Dorfman Dance Company, Fred Ho (Vampire Opera) Petey Pablo of Jive Records, Gucci Man (Me & You single), Danny Mixon, Ty Stephens, Pee Wee Ellis, Co-‐winner of the 2010 McDonald’s GospelFest Children’s Choir Contest, Darlene Love on The View’s Christmas Show, and George Brandon’s Blue Unity Sextet.
