Come join a wonderful Black History Month Celebration and groove to some Jazzy live music session. We’re hosting a special gathering for all music lovers where you can feast your ears on the amazing sounds of this noted jazz performer.
Note This is a free event and seating is on a first come first served basis. Standing room only once seats fill up. Doors open 1:45 PM.
Alex Desrivieres

Alex Desriveres – a talented woodwind musician hailing from the vibrant state of New Jersey. With a passion for writing, learning, and playing music, in addition to performing locally in numerous locations around South Orange, Maplewood, Essex County, New Jersey and New York, this seasoned performer has graced the stages of Norwegian Cruise Lines and Dutch Wonderland amusement park. Notably, Alex was honored as a “Rising Star” at the esteemed COTA Jazz Festival in both 2015 and 2016.
Beyond his impressive musical career, Alex finds fulfillment in teaching young students, igniting their creativity through the power of music. Through a teaching style that promotes guided exploration and student-centered learning, Alex strives to unlock the potential of every aspiring musician.
When not immersed in the world of music, Alex finds joy in playing video games, embarking on adventurous hikes, and delving into the depths of different languages. Get ready to be enthralled by the talent and enthusiasm of Alex Desriveres!

1978 Arts Center

The 1978 Arts Center has served the community for almost two decades as a space dedicated to the the visual arts. Under the direction of the Maplewood Department of Community Services Division of Arts & Culture, it will continue to provides a forum for artists to work, exhibit and interact.
