Rutgers IJS & Greg Burrus present Flamenkora Trio

This internationally acclaimed group, which debuted on Motema Records in 2023 will soon release their second album.
The Kora player, Ali Boulo Santo Cissoko, a highly respected Griot based in Senegal is an authentic Griot – a master of traditional Kora and vocals, with a very special ear for jazz who develops an amazing rapport with audiences.
Based in NYC, trumpet player Volker Goetze leads and produces the group. In addition to many musical accomplishments, he’s is a filmmaker, educator, and event producer who’s earned many grants and presented many interesting cultural events, programs, and films.
Roberto Montiero – a Brazilian-born, Madrid-based flamenco guitar master with big ears and a big heart has become on e of the most in-demand musicians playing in this genre.
Between the three of them, they personally represent the cultures of Senegal, Paris, NYC, Germany, Spain and Brazil, and their music is truly exquisite and a lot of fun as well. Each artist has a fascinating journey to share and the chemistry of Flamenkora trio is both delightful and profound.
