2023 South Orange Live Music Juneteenth Performances

These live music events will celebrate the spirit and the mission of Juneteenth with two dynamic concerts featuring two stellar musicians and their bands demonstrating a diversity of talent across multiple artistic and musical genres. 

LYNETTE SHEARD EXPERIENCE –  Music, Movement and Art

The Lynette Sheard Experience led by Lynette Sheard and a group of incredibly talented friends that invite you to an unforgettable South Orange Juneteenth music, movement and art  experience. This evening will display the diversity of experiences and talents of local performers and  will be packed with jazz, blues, gospel and more live music, dynamic dance movements, and even a live art experience. 

SHOW DESCRIPTION – African American communities have used music, song, and dance ;sometimes in place of written communication, to discuss life, death, spiritual philosophies, and emotions to cope with the traumas that came with being enslaved. This performance by Lynette Sheard and Jeffry Foote will feature some of the songs that demonstrate the joy, sorrow, pain, inspiration, discontent, and hope experienced by African Americans on their continued journey towards healing and emotional emancipation.

Lynette Sheard is a gifted versatile vocalist with a five octave range. She is an actor, producer and director. She is the unseated “West Orange Idol”. Her performances have been acknowledged in numerous publications including the New York Times, The Record and the Chronicle. The Star Ledger proclaims that “Her voice reaches deep into one’s soul and finds a soft spot” She performs Jazz, R&B, Gospel, Soul and Pop music throughout the tri-state area. Theater credits include principal roles in: Dream Girls, Smokey Joes Café, Ragtime, Swing, Aida, and an encore performance as Lena Younger Mama in Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun. She has received countless awards and recognition for her musical service work with children, the elderly and veterans. She is a founding member of the Guiding Stars, a Medical Missions group of professional performers who volunteer to entertain veterans and children. Her performances have raised thousands for Hurricane Katrina Survivors, Haitian Relief efforts, The Red Cross and numerous other local charities.

MPACK LIVE – 7:30 – 9 PM

MPack is a band, a brand, and a musical production enterprise, consisting of multiple elements in an ever evolving flow. Clarence is the founder, and CEO of M-Pack Music productions – whose motto is “Life Changing Sounds”. This cross-genre musician is creatively talented and has gathered other like minded musicians and vocalists that will join him on the appropriate occasion. It’s the combination of the like-minded souls that ensures MPack delivers an explosive energy to the stage, guaranteed to rock the house and have folks dancing to the music all night long!  

Clarence Conover is a cross-genre musician and leader of  “M-Pack”.  Conover is a phenomenally talented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keys, drums and more).  In his formative years, his musical influences included Herbie Hancock, Grover Washington, Phyllis Hyman, Luther Vandross and Price, just to name a few. Clarence has performed and recorded with Patti Labelle, Teddy Pendergrass, Grover Washington Jr., the Delfonics, and Bo Diddley, and others.  He is a product of the Philly sound.  Clarence is a specialist in Funk, Jazz, Blues, Fusion, Neo-soul and R&B grooves. 

Joining Clarence Conover on this live music journey will be veteran musicians lead vocalist Patricia Walton., Guitarist Brett Caulder, Drummer Kev “Natz” Moore and Pianist Glenn Merritt.
