Institute of Jazz Studies: The London Sessions Exhibition Opening

May 6 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT
Free
Celebrate the exhibition opening with live music, light refreshements, and a curator’s talk highlighting rare jazz treasures on display.

Please join us for the opening of Institute of Jazz Studies: The London Sessions—a new exhibition that brings jazz history “across the pond” and back to Newark.

Enjoy an evening of music, conversation, and discovery featuring the piano stylings of James Austin Jr. and special musical guests, light bites, and curator’s remarks at 6:00 p.m. The exhibition highlights British‑American jazz connections, transatlantic migration stories, historic performances, and rare recordings and publications that document the global reach and diasporic spread of Black music.

This event is free and open to the public. Please RSVP and reserve your spot.

Important note: visitors without a Rutgers ID should bring a government‑issued photo ID to enter the library.

Come experience jazz history in motion—and see remarkable materials from the Institute’s rich collections.
