Lynette Sheard – Vocalist

Lynette Sheard was born in Newark NJ currently residing in West Orange. A self–professed late bloomer who began performing in 2008 after winning a local vocal competition at the Oscar Schindler Performing Arts Center singing a song about chicken to an instrumental version of Etta James’ At last. The performance was a landmark. The musical journey began at that moment.

Feeling confident she purchased a karaoke machine and began learning 2 new songs a week. For years she volunteered to sing at local nursing homes, schools, hospitals and churches. As the confidence and exposure grew so did the invitations and opportunities. Lynette was recruited by musicians because of her willingness to learn, professionalism, positive attitude and ability to sing any genre albeit pop, rock, soul, gospel, jazz, or R&B. A lover of artistic expression and the creative process she ventured into theater and staged performances. These performances have earned her audience praise and accolades. Words used to describe her live performances are passionate, powerful, anointed, and awesome.

She has shared the stage with Grammy winning musicians and Broadway stars including those in The Lion King, and The Phantom of the Opera, Lynette is a multi-talented and versatile vocalist with a five octave range and perfect pitch. She acts, produces, directs and is vocal coach. Her performances have been acknowledged in numerous publications including, The NY Times, Broadway World, The Record, Hot House, The Patch and The Chronicle. The Star Ledger proclaimed that, “Her voice reaches deep into one’s soul and finds a soft spot

Theater credits include principal roles in: Dream Girls, Smokey Joe’s Café, Ragtime, Ragtime the Musical, Swing, Aida, For Colored Girls, A long Time Since Yesterday, The Vagina Monologues, A Raisin in the Sun and as Gary Coleman in Avenue Q in which Broadway World declared that, “she is fabulous with a voice that shakes the rafters” Lynette Sheard is honored to be featured in” The encyclopedia of Newark Jazz”, Her latest single Last night’s champagne produced by Jay Street Records is producing solid sales on ITunes, Amazon and Apple music.
