Jazz Appreciation Month Apr 4 – Sue Rock and Dambrose Boyd at Myrna Bain Scholarship Benefit 2019

Welcome to the Coronavirus Social Distancing Series Produced by Gregory Burrus Around Town. Put together to help our musicians, fans, the community stay connected since we can’t be there in person. Everyday somebody new from all the Gregory Burrus Around Town Events.

Enjoy All. Tonight we are enjoying Friends of Myrna Bain Scholarship hosted by our buddy Sherry Gibson who puts on a great fundraising benefit every year.

April 3rd in honor of Jazz Appreciation Month – we flash back to Myrna Bain Scholarship Benefit performers Sue Rock and Dambrose Boyd. These cats just knocked it out of the park.

Have to admit I am a big fan of Sue Rock after this performance as she was my favorite performer of the night. Hopefully one day she will come sing out here in 24 Hours of Music.

SUE ROCK, VOCALS
Sue Rock has been a vocalist all her life, singing since childhood – enjoying wonders of popular music and Broadway classics. Sue Rock’s expressive, rich, and authentic singing comes straight from her heart to yours. Freely, she opens up to all influences – from classic jazz to funk-filled R&B. You can always count on Sue Rock for innovative re-working of your favorite songs as well as original tunes – She makes your favorites sound NEW again! This is her second time performing in the Myrna Bain Scholarship Concert Series and has also performed at Bar Thalia’s, Singers Space, and Gammage Auditorium in Arizona and in Naples, Italy. Sue has performed with the late, great Phyllis Hyman, Jazz Bassist Fred Ho, and Jelly Bean Benitez. Sue Rock Originals is her passion project. After losing a friend to domestic violence – she created Sue Rock Originals Everyone – a not-for-profit organization committed to providing textile skills and support to survivors of domestic violence who leave.
