Kim Clarke Quartet

Kim Clarke – Bassist

Kim Clarke is a highly accomplished jazz bassist, composer, and educator. Born in Queens, New York City, she is known for her versatile playing on the acoustic bass, electric upright, and four and five-stringed electric bass guitar. Her electric bass playing has been described as soulful, funky, rich, and tight.

Kim holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communications from City College of New York and Music from Long Island University. She has been a three-time recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Study Fellowship and has studied with jazz legends such as Ron Carter, Lyle Atkinson, and Barry Harris.

Throughout her career, Kim has performed with numerous renowned jazz musicians and groups, including the Joe Henderson Quartet, Defunkt, Yusef Lateef Quartet, and the Art Blakey Breakfast Jam house band. She has toured extensively in the U.S., Western Europe, Canada, Japan, and Pakistan.

Ronnie Burrage – Drummer

Ronnie Burrage is a highly respected jazz drummer, percussionist, composer, and educator. Born on October 19, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri, he began his musical journey at a young age, singing in the St. Louis Cathedral Boys Choir and performing with Duke Ellington at just nine years old.

Burrage’s style draws from jazz, funk, and soul, and he has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Royal Albert Hall. He has worked with numerous renowned artists such as Sonny Fortune, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins, and Pat Metheny. Burrage was also a founding member of the avant-garde jazz group “Third Kind of Blue” and has produced and recorded with many notable musicians.

In addition to his performing career, Burrage is dedicated to music education and has taught at various institutions, including the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania State University. He continues to inspire and educate the next generation of musicians.

Tim Siciliano – Guitarist

Tim Siciliano is a highly respected jazz guitarist and composer who has been a fixture on the New York jazz scene since the 1980s. He is known for his unique ability to interpret modern jazz compositions with clear articulation, phrasing, and sound1. Tim has performed with notable artists such as Stan Getz, Joe Henderson, and Rene McLean. He has also worked with the late virtuoso guitarist Emily Remler in a well-remembered duo1.

In addition to his performing career, Tim is a composer, educator, and the owner of SRT Studios, where many great jazz recordings have been produced over the years. He continues to be an influential figure in the jazz community.

Phil Bingham Pianist – Jesus and Jazz

Phil Bingham is a talented jazz pianist, conductor, and music education consultant. He is known for his soulful playing and gospel roots, which reveal his deep jazz pedigree. Bingham has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and has been involved in various live concerts, theatrical performances, and civic and charitable events.

Phil Bingham is Founder and Vice-President of the Barry Harris Institute of Jazz. He has also served as the Minister of Music Emeritus for Concord Baptist Church of Christ in Brooklyn, NY, and has been a music consultant for New York City vicinity school districts. Bingham has conducted professional development workshops for both the secular and sacred music communities, sharing his expertise in worship music and composition.

Laverne Williams – Mental Health Professional

Laverne Williams is the Director of the Promoting Emotional Wellness and Spirituality (PEWS) Program at the Mental Health Association in New Jersey (MHANJ). She has been a dedicated advocate for mental health, particularly within the African American community, for over 38 years. Laverne founded the PEWS Program in 2005 with the goal of breaking the stigma associated with mental health conditions in the Black community. She has worked tirelessly to equip church leaders with the skills to respond to congregants’ mental health concerns and to bridge the gap between theology and mental health.

As a New Jersey Certified Social Worker, WRAP (Wellness & Recovery Action Plan) Facilitator, Mental Health First Aid Instructor, and Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, Laverne has made significant contributions to mental health awareness and education. She is also a highly sought-after conference keynote speaker and workshop facilitator.

Rev Eyesha Marable – Pastor – Jesus and Jazz

Rev. Eyesha Marable is the pastor of Mt. Zion AME Church in Millburn, New Jersey, and the founder of the “Jesus and Jazz” series. This unique event combines uplifting jazz music with spiritual messages, creating a harmonious blend of faith and music. The series features renowned jazz musicians and aims to provide a spiritually enriching experience for the community.

Currently, she is the Director of Community Engagement for NJPAC (New Jersey Performing Arts Center) and also has over 14 years of service at the Greater Allen Cathedral of New York, where she served as associate minister, assistant dance director for Allen Liturgical Dance Ministry, and co-chair for the bi-annual worship conference. Rev. Marable founded the National Liturgical Dance Network (NLDN), which gathers, trains, supports, and unites churches and worshippers worldwide. She is passionate about using the arts to inspire and uplift people, and her work has garnered significant attention and praise.

Gregory Burrus – Live Music Producer – Jesus and Jazz

Gregory Burrus is a dedicated live music producer, promoter, event planner, and community partner based in Northern NJ. He works with community groups, live music bands, and local nonprofits to help them achieve their goals. Gregory’s mission is to support and promote live music, ensuring that it remains an integral part of the community.

Gregory is known for organizing and promoting various live music events, including the Annual City of Orange Food Truck and Jazz Festival, the Annual West Orange Jazz Festival, the Rutgers Institute of Jazz Studies Clements Place along with live music events for the towns of Cranford, Montclair, Maplewood and Newark. He also founded and organized the 24 Hours of Music Jamboree, an outdoor festival in South Orange where bands perform non-stop for 24 hours.
